Faye G. Sumner

AHOSKIE – Faye Gallop Sumner, age 90, of NC 561 E., died Friday, August 19, 2011, at Mountain Ridge Wellness Center in Black Mountain, NC.
Mrs. Sumner was born in Harbinger, Currituck County, NC, on September 4, 1920, a daughter of the late Eddie and Mae Poore Gallop. She was a member of Hickory Chapel Original Free Will Baptist Church and the Ladies Auxiliary and was very active until her health failed. Faye worked at Ahoskie Graded School as lunchroom manager, serving in that capacity for 20 years.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Becky Jo Sumner of Black Mountain and Ahoskie. Besides her parents, Mrs. Sumner was predeceased by her husband, McCoy Sumner.
A celebration of life service will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 21, 2011 at Hickory Chapel Original Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Michael Williams and Rev. John Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the Sumner Family Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the home before the service on Sunday.
