RICH SQUARE – Northampton County Sheriff Wardie Vincent has released the results of an autopsy.

On Friday afternoon, Vincent said an autopsy has revealed the death of Nekia Ann Hunter, 27, of Rich Square was due to stab wounds in the neck and upper torso area. He also said there was evidence of trauma to the head area.

Hunter went missing from her home early Monday morning and her body was located in an abandon structure near the intersection of U.S. 258 and N.C. 308.

Rich Square Police Chief Bo Roye and deputies from the Northampton County Sheriff’s Officer were dispatched to a resident on Stanford Street where they found Ricky Harris had been stabbed and was bleeding profusely. Harris informed them the person responsible for his wounds had kidnapped Hunter.

Harris was flown to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital and the search began for Hunter. Her body was found Tuesday afternoon after information was received from a person who was later arrested.

Garland Maurice Fisher, 27, of Felton Place in Rich Square is currently in the Northampton County Detention Center under no bond charged with first degree murder, first degree rape, first degree kidnapping, first degree burglary, robbery with a dangerous weapon, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and attempted murder.

Vincent said authorities had not located a murder weapon as of Friday afternoon.
