Lady Rams suffer setback

CREEKSVILLE – Northampton-East kept it close in the the first and fourth quarters, but it was the 16 minutes in between that cost the Lady Rams.

East trailed by only one point after the first quarter and scored only two points less than Louisburg in the fourth.

The Lady Warriors, however, outscored the Lady Rams 32-12 in the second and third quarters though, and the hole was too deep for East to dig out of as they fell 56-33.

Louisburg’s Tyeya Holloway led all scorers with 23 points followed by Jessica Perry with 13.

Patrice Williams scored 12 to pace East.

Louisburg took an early 4-0 lead, but a foul shot by Dyamonique Peebles and Patrice Williams jumper pulled the Lady Rams within one.

Consecutive baskets by Louisburg extended the Lady Warriors lead to five (8-3).

East chipped away at the lead before a basket and trey by Williams pulled the Lady Rams within one (12-11) at the end of the first.

Louisburg scored the first five points of the second quarter before East got a basket by Ashley Boyce. Two more Warrior buckets gave the Lady Warriors a 10 point advantage (23-13).

East added a basket and free throw from Williams while Louisburg got a bucket from Brittiny Pittman to hold a 25-16 advantage at the half.

The Lady Warriors scored 19 points in the third quarter while holding East to only seven , stretching their lead to 21 (44-23).

East got baskets from Peebles and Boone and two treys from Courtney Balmer but it wasn’t enough as Louisburg took the 56-33 victory.
