WINTON n Ella Mae Reynolds, 85, a native of Hertford County, died January 8, 2008 at Roanoke-Chowan Hospital.

A funeral will be conducted at 12 noon Saturday at Philippi Baptist Church, Cofield, by the Rev. Elton Hall. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Hertford County Undertakers, Winton, is in charge.

Survivors include one son, John Reynolds of Winton; three daughters, Barbara Wilson and Josanne Jenkins, both of Ahoskie and Dorothy Edwards of Baltimore, Md.; one sister, Nellie Viola Pearson; 14 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Jesse Lee “Sugar Bear” Dickens,

53, a native of Edgecombe County, died January 7, 2008 at Roanoke-Chowan Hospital, Ahoskie.

Dickens retired from the US Army as SP4. He had also retired from Carroll Foods.

Survivors include his wife, Pearlie Mae Dickens of Murfreesboro; a son, Jesse B. Dickens of Murfreesboro; daughters, Kimberly Ann Dickens of Baltimore, Md., Jacquesha Harrison and Jessicia Harrison, both of Gates; a brother, Julius Dickens of Conway; sisters, Sarah Dickens of Conway and Irene Joyner of Rocky Mount; two grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Wilder’s Funeral Home Chapel, Rich Square, by the Rev. Winslow Hagans. Burial will be in Second Baptist Church Creeksville Cemetery, Murfreesboro.

AHOSKIE n Alvin “Al Boy” Twine, 50, a native of Northampton County, died January 2008 at Roanoke Chowan Hospital, Ahoskie.

Twine was retired from Bennett Box Company, Ahoskie. He was a member of

Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, nAhoskie.

Survivors include a daughter, Telisha R. Benns of Iraq; stepfather, Henry Speller of Ahoskie; sisters, Karen Speller of Roanoke Rapids, Gloria T. Phillips of Staten Island,

NY, and Patricia Ann Speller of Maryland; and two grandchildren.
