Minnie H. Whedbee
HERTFORD – Minnie Harrell Whedbee, 100, a native of Perquimans County, died August 28, 2007, in the Skilled Nursing Facility of Chowan Hospital. She was the widow of Ervin W. Whedbee.
Mrs. Whedbee was a homemaker, she had retired from Don Juan Mfg. Co., was a charter member of Burgess Baptist Church, the Adult Sunday school class and had formerly been active in the W.M.U. and the Burgess Home Demonstration Club.
Survivors include four daughters, Dorothy Collins, Myrtle Copeland and Elsie Ward, all of Hertford and Clarine Stallings of Sunbury; seven grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 14 great-great- grandchildren.
A funeral was conducted Friday in Burgess Baptist Church by the Rev. F. Joe Griffith. Burial was in the Harrell Family Cemetery near New Hope. Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, was in charge.
Ruby Z. Ellis
WINTON – Ruby Z. Ellis, 89, went to her eternal father peacefully on Monday, Aug. 27, 2007. She was born in Dendron, Va.
She leaves to cherish her in loving memory, her four children, Frederick Ellis Jr., Malvenia Martin, Tyrone Ellis (Marva) and Gwendolyn Sawyer (Lee Stanley); grandchildren, Stacy Martin, Derrick Collins, Corey Ellis (Fredricka), Justin Howard, Danita Richardson and Phillip Richardson, Argentine Mitchell (Rashida), LaTonya Ellis (Timothy) and Jamil Davis (Leilonn), Channin Summers (Monica), Dimnick Sawyer and Jason Sawyer; 15 great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Vernon Ellis; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends; a special caregiver, Rose Perry.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 1, at Macedonia Baptist Church, 5500 Marshall Ave., Newport News. Interment will be in Hampton Memorial Gardens. Viewing from noon to 5 p.m. Friday at Berceuse Funeral and Cremation Traditions, 2609 Cunningham Drive, Hampton, and two hours prior to the service Saturday at the church.

Tilton Worrell Sr.
PORTSMOUTH, Va. n Tilton Worrell “World” Sr., 76, a native of Nansemond County, died August 26, 2007 at Bon Secours Maryview Medical Center.
Worrell retired from Atlantic Wood Industries.
A funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday at Cornerstone Pentecostal Holiness Church, 4437 Marlin Ave., Suffolk, by Bishop Otto Williams. Burial will be in the Gatling Cemetery, Woodland, following the service. Wilder’s Funeral Home, Inc., Aulander, is in charge.
Survivors include sons, Tilton Worrell III of Portsmouth and James Pollard of Killeen, Texas; two daughters, Joyce Worrell of Portsmouth and Clementine Boone of Oxford; a sister, Ella Mae Darden of Suffolk; and four grandchildren.
Mary Lewis
WINDSOR n Mary Louise Marshall Lewis, 76, a native of Fitchburg, Mass., died August 28, 2007 at her home. She was the widow of James Wesley Lewis.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at New Light House Baptist Church, Windsor, by the Rev. J.T. Edwards. Massey Funeral Home, Aulander, is in charge.
Mrs. Lewis was a Korean War Army veteran and had served as Chaplain and a member of the honor guard of the VFW in Hernando, Fla.
Survivors include her children, James Franklin Lewis of Vanceboro, William Wester Lewis of Chocowinity, Adrianna Lewis of Winterville, Otis Adrian Lewis of Plymouth, Bobby Ray Lewis of Manteo, Audrey Lewis of Winterville and Emily Dean Jernigan of Windsor; 16 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Thelma P. Jackson
GOLDSBORO – Thelma Parker Jackson, 76, a native of Goldsboro, died August 28, 2007 at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Goldsboro.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Luke Church of Christ. The family will receive friends at McIntyre Funeral Home, 900 George St., from 4-6 p.m., Monday. Hunter’s Funeral Home, Inc., Ahoskie, provided information.
Survivors include one son, Guthrie Parker of the home; one daughter, Yvonne Jackson of Winston-Salem; and one sister, Ethel P. Tyree of Winton.
Earlie Faulcon
ROANOKE RAPIDS n Earlie Faulcon, 90, died August 28, 2007 at his residence.
A visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. Monday in the Roanoke Rapids Chapel of H.D. Pope Funeral Home. A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Quankey Baptist Church, Roanoke Rapids by the Rev. Joseph Battle. Interment will be in Simmons Grove Baptist Church.
