WINTON – Joseph L. Hall, 89, of Winton died early Tuesday morning, October 11, 2011 in Greenville.
He was born in Hertford County, NC to James L. and Fannie C. Hall.
He graduated from Waters Training Academy in 1941. He served as a Staff Sergeant in World War II. He retired from the Norfolk Navy Shipyard in Portsmouth, VA.
He was married for fifty-six years to Grace L. Hall who preceded him in death.
He is survived by a son, Dr. Terry C. Hall (Denyce) of Winton. Other survivors include grandsons, I’noli Hall, Joseph L. Hall Jr. and Damien Gatling; granddaughters, Meli Hall, Dyani Hall and Tasha Parker; six great-grandchildren and many cousins and friends.
The family will receive guests at the home of Dr. Terry Hall in Winton. A wake will be held from 7-8 p.m. on Saturday, October 15 at Hertford County Undertakers in Winton.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, October 16, 2011 at Pleasant Plains Baptist Church. The eulogy will be given by the Rev. Eric Evans. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
