ROCKY MOUNT n Katherine Perry McNeil, 47, died January 12, 2007 at UNC Hospital, Chapel Hill.

A funeral was conducted Wednesday at Light of Peace Missionary Baptist Church. Burial was in Gardens of Gethsemane. H.D. Pope Funeral Home was in charge.

Gary N. Lawrence

GATESVILLE – Gary Neal Lawrence, 44, a native of Gates County, died January 16, 2007, at the home of his parents.

Lawrence was the owner and operator of Gary Lawrence Trucking. He was a Baptist by faith and attended Faith Outreach Community Church.

Survivors include his parents, Bill and Frances W. Lawrence; a brother, Mike Lawrence; and his maternal grandmother, Maebelle Wilson of Suffolk.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home, 304 Main St., Gatesville, by the Rev. Russell Blanchard. Burial will be in Middle Swamp Baptist Church Cemetery.

Dora Vaughan

MURFREESBORO n Dora Gertrude Vaughan, 77, a native of Northampton County, died January 14, 2007 at Pitt Memorial Hospital, Greenville.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at Parker’s Grove Baptist Church, Murfreesboro, by the Rev. Fernando E. Temple Sr. Burial will be in Carver’s Park Cemetery. Hertford County Undertakers, Winton, is in charge.

Survivors include her husband, Elijah Vaughan Sr.; five sons, Elijah Vaughan Jr. of Silver Spring, Md., Mattew Vaughan of Roxbury, MA, Daniel Lee Vaughan of Hampton, Va., Paul Douglas Vaughan of Germany and Gregory Anothony Vaughan of Brockton, MA; one daughter, Mamie Ruth Witherspoon of Murfreesboro; one sister, Martha P. Butler of Rich Square; 17 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Delores N. Outlaw

AHOSKIE -Delores Newsome Outlaw, 62, a native of Bertie County, died January 16, 2007 at Rex Hospital, Raleigh.

Mrs. Outlaw was a member of Piney Woods Chapel Baptist Church and member of the church missionary. She was a past employee of Perdue, Inc.

Survivors include her husband, Bobby Ray Outlaw Sr. of the home; sons, Bobby Ray Outlaw Jr.

and Jerral Earl Outlaw, both of Raleigh and Alvin Outlaw of Paterson, NJ; daughters, Evette Roberson of Raleigh, Sandra D. Outlaw of Ahoskie, Jacqueline Hart of Fairfax, Va., and Florenda Powell of Raleigh; brothers, Jay Bruce Watford of Baltimore, Md., and Sheron Newsome of Summerfield, Fla.; a sister, Shirley Brooks of Colerain; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted at 12 noon Friday at Piney Woods Chapel Baptist Church, Ahoskie, by Dr. Roosevelt Askew II; Burial will be in Wilders-Cherry Family Cemetery, Aulander. Wilder’s Funeral Home, Inc., Aulander, is in charge.

Leroy Farless

COLERAIN n Leroy Farless, 75, a native of Bertie County, died January 16, 2007 at his home.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Colerain Baptist Church by the Rev. Jack Byrd. Burial with military honors will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday at Walker Funeral Home and at other times at the home. Memorial gifts may be made to Colerain Baptist Church.

Farless was a member, deacon and Sunday School teacher of Colerain Baptist Church. He was a former Town of Colerain Board member and former member of the Lion’s and Ruritan’s Clubs. He was also the owner of Farless Grocery and an Army veteran of the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife, Jeanette Castelloe Farless of Colerain; a son, Tim

Farless of Cary; three sisters, Blanche F. White of Merry Hill, and Shelby F. White and Mary Ann F. Castelloe, both of Windsor; a brother, Bob Farless of Shellbyville, TN; and two grandchildren.

Earl C. Winborne

AHOSKIE n Earle Clease “Earle C” Winborne, died January 13, 2007 at Pitt County Memorial Hospital, Greenville.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at Calvary Missionary Baptist Church by the Rev. H.H. Murrill. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. Reynolds Funeral Home, Inc., Ahoskie, is in charge.

Mrs. Winborne was a member of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church and its pastor’s aide.

Survivors include three sons, Christopher T. Winborne of Aulander, Willie D. Winborne of Houston, TX and Stacey W. Winborne of Mobile, Ala.; one brother, Clarence Beverly of Columbia, SC; one sister, Shirley King of Suffolk, Va.; and two grandchildren.

Jerline Lee

AHOSKIE n Jerline Lee, died January 14, 2007 at Three Rivers Health and Rehabilitation, Windsor.

A funeral will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at R.L. Vann (Cape Center), Ahoskie, by the Rev. Lycurgus Harrell. Burial will be in the family cemetery, Aulander. Reynolds Funeral Home, Inc., Ahoskie, is in charge.

Ms. Lee was a member of Mill Branch Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include one son, Michael Lee of Ahoskie; two daughters, Carolyn Lee of Ahoskie and Michelle Lee of Queens, NY; her mother, Ivey Lee of Ahoskie; two brothers, Leonard Lee of Winton and Ersel Lee of NY; three sisters,

Minnie Thorne of Queens, Denise Williams and Vanessa Lee, both of Ahoskie; and six grandchildren.

Roland Faison

KELFORD n Roland Edgar “Buddy Boy Faison” Faison, 61, a native of Bertie County, died January 13, 2007 at his residence.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Mill Branch Baptist Church, Aulander, by the Rev. Milton Lee. Burial will be in the Wilders-Cherry Family Cemetery, Aulander. Wilder’s Funeral Home, Inc., is in charge.

Faison was a member of Beautiful Zion Baptist Church and a past employee of Perdue, Inc.

Survivors include a daughter, Beverly Teresa Martin of Raleigh; two brothers, Cleveland Faison of Colerain and General Faison Sr. of Kelford; one sister, Flora Jean Faison of Kelford; and one grandchild.

Hazel Daughtrey

HERTFORD n Hazel Daughtrey, 82, a native of Chowan County, died January 14, 2007 in Brian Center of Hertford.

A graveside service was conducted Wednesday at Warwick Baptist Church Cemetery, Hobbsville, by Dr. Charles Jones. Swindell Funeral and Cremation Services of Hertford was in charge.

Mrs. Daughtrey was a retired LPN and a Baptist.

Survivors include two daughters, Sherron Hobbs of Hobbsville and Hazel LaVerne Gholson of Richmond, Va.; one son, Richard M. Daughtrey of Richmond; three sisters, Alice B. Futrell and Cora Lee Parker, both of Murfreesboro and Sarah Vann of Courtland; seven grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
