CU athlete cleared of charges

WINTON – A Chowan University football player has been cleared on several felony charges.
Nathan Troy Frye, a sophomore linebacker for the University’s football team was charged with several felony offenses after an October traffic stop revealed drugs and weapons in the vehicle that Frye was operating.
The Hertford County Sheriff’s Office reported that Frye, as well as three other individuals, had been charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver crack cocaine, possession with the intent to sell and deliver marijuana, possession with the intent to sell and deliver hashish and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Pursuant to the stop, Frye was also charged with maintaining a vehicle for use in drug activity and illegally carrying a concealed weapon.
Last month, the Office of the District Attorney dismissed all charges against Frye and Debais Quinell Gore a passenger in the vehicle on the night in question and also a student at Chowan University.
