Stanley Eugene Wiggins

GATES – Rev. Stanley Eugene Wiggins, 70 of 340 Hazelton Road, Gates, died Thursday, November 24, 2011 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
He was a native of Norfolk, VA and the son of the late Rev. Charlie Wiggins and Maebell Felton Wiggins. He was predeceased by one sister, Lulamae Savage; and two brothers, Sylvester Wiggins and Clinton Wiggins.
He was a graduate of Central High School. He retired from Huntington Ingalls (formerly Northrop Grunman) after 38 years. Rev. Wiggins was a member of New Piney Wood Chapel Baptist Church. He was a member of the Roanoke Ministers Alliance, Middle Ground Union and Roanoke Missionary Baptist Association. He was the former pastor of Zion Tabernacle Baptist Church in Corapeake.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Evangelist Mary Jones Wiggins; two daughters, Edith F. Wiggins of Ahoskie and April Wiggins Young (Ryan) of New Bern; three sisters, Eunice Bennett (Winston) of Portsmouth, VA, Sarah Faltz of Norfolk, VA and Mavis Goodman (Walter) of Suffolk, VA; one brother, Rev. David L. Wiggins (Bernice) of Gates; one aunt, Annie Wiggins; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 12 noon, Thursday, December 1, 2011 at New Piney Wood Chapel Baptist Church officiated by Pastor Richard L. Curry. Interment will be in the Wiggins Family Cemetery in Sommerton, VA.
The family will receive friends at Crocker Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 30, 2011 from 6 – 8:00 p.m.
