AHOSKIE – Clarence W. Askew Jr. passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, December 31, 2011.

He was born in Bertie County and later moved to Ahoskie where he lived out the rest of his life.

He worked with his father for many years as a carpenter and from there he was employed with the Hertford County Board of Education from where he retired.

So many lives have been touched by Mr. Clarence’s calm and caring way of life. His devotion to family and friends leaves us to cherish the time he shared with us.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Audrey Askew of the home; three daughters, Sherry Askew Courtney of Raleigh, Audrey A. Askew of Maryland and Lisa Askew Grimes of Raleigh; six sons, Charles Askew, Steve Askew, David Askew, Josef Askew, Clarence Askew and Billy Askew, all of Ahoskie; and a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Mr. Askew will be greatly missed, not forgotten, and loved forever.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 7, 2012 at Calvary Baptist Church in Ahoskie.
