Louise H. Kittrell

CORAPEAKE -Louise Hudgins Kittrell, 95, a native of Perquimans County died March 25, 2006, in her home. She was the widow of George Parker Kittrell Sr.

Mrs. Kittrell had taught at Gates School and was a faithful member of Parker’s United Methodist Church and its United Methodist Women.

Survivors include a son, George Parker Kittrell Jr. of Corapeake; a brother, John S. Hudgins of Raleigh; two grandsons; and four great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Parker’s United Methodist Church by the Rev. Mike Askew. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Miller Funeral Home, Gatesville is in charge. J. Cyril Winslow Sr.

BELVIDERE – James Cyril Winslow Sr., 85, a native of Perquimans County, died March 26, 2006, in the Skilled Nursing Facility at Chowan Hospital, Edenton.

Winslow was a retired farmer and painter, he had worked for the past 12 years for Albemarle Regional Solid Waste Management at the Belvidere site. Mr. Winslow was a member and former deacon of Whiteville Grove Baptist Church and had also served with the Belvidere-Chappell Hill Volunteer Fire Dept.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia Long Winslow; a daughter, Paula Kaye W. Evans of Henderson; a son, Kenneth Ray Winslow Sr. of Belvidere; three sisters, Novella W. Perry, Ethia W. Adams and Ruth W. Self; and a brother, Lawrence N. Winslow; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Whiteville Grove Baptist Church by the Rev. William Byrum, the Rev. Adron Modlin and the Rev. Tony Evans. Burial will be in the Winslow family cemetery. Miller Funeral Home, Edenton,

Betty Ann Baines

GATESVILLE -Betty Ann Riddick Baines, a native of Perquimans County, died March 25, 2006.

Mrs. Baines was a homemaker and a member of Gatesville Baptist Church.

Survivors include husband, William Story &uot;Bill&uot; Baines; a daughter, Deborah B. Lee of Gatesville; two sons, William S. &uot;Billy&uot; Baines Jr. of Kill Devil Hills and Robert Alan &uot;Bobby&uot; Baines of Hobbsville; six grandchildren; and two sisters, Priscilla Jones of Smithfield, Va., and Hannah Riddick of Suffolk.

A funeral was conducted Monday in Gatesville Baptist Church by the Rev. Gene Asbill. Private interment followed in the Gatesville Cemetery. Miller Funeral Home was in charge. Memorial contributions may be made to the building fund of Gatesville Baptist Church, P.O. Box 167, Gatesville, NC 27938.

A. Randolph Tinkham

EURE – Arthur Randolph Tinkham, 90, a native of Gates County, died March 24, 2006, in his home.

Tinkham was retired from the U.S. Postal Service after serving as the postmaster of the Eure Post Office for 35 years. He was a member and deacon of Cool Spring Baptist Church where he served as the church treasurer for many years and was active in the Adult Men’s Sunday school class. A member of Gatesville Masonic Lodge No. 126, he was also a member of the Sudan Temple of the Shrine and was a charter member of the Hall Ruritan Club. Mr. Tinkham served his country during World War II with the Fourth Armored Division of the Army and saw action on D-Day and in the Battle of the Bulge and had received the Purple Heart, five Bronze Stars, the Silver Star and the Jubilee of Liberty Medal. Mr. Tinkham was a graduate of Chowan College.

Survivors include his wife, Maggie Eure Tinkham; two daughters, Jane Webb of Suffolk and Cathy Cutchins of Newsoms, Va.; two sons, Randy Tinkham of Chesapeake and Steve Tinkham of Eure; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandson. A funeral was conducted Sunday in Cool Spring Baptist Church by the Rev. Roger Kiker and the Rev. Wayne Gardner. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Miller Funeral Home, Gatesville, was in charge. Memorial contributions may be made to Cool Spring Baptist Church or to the Eure Volunteer Fire Department.

Herman J. Bradshaw

FRANKLIN, Va. – Herman Jeptha Bradshaw, 91, a native of Southampton County, died March 23, 2006, at Southampton Memorial Hospital. He was the widower of Bessie Edwards Bradshaw.

Bradshaw retired from Cobb’s Esso and Franklin 76 Service and was a member of Franklin Baptist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Carolyn B. Fowler and Nancy B. Bridges, all of Franklin; and three brothers, the Rev. Melvin J. Bradshaw of South Boston, James Murray Bradshaw of Gates, and J.J. Bradshaw of Holland;

A graveside service was conducted Sunday in Poplar Spring Cemetery by the Rev. Dr. A. Richard Childress and the Rev. Sharon James. Wright Funeral Home was in charge. Memorials may be made to Franklin Baptist Church, 208 N. High St., Franklin, VA 23851.

James Chamblee Jr.

BROOKLYN, NY n James Chamblee Jr., 63, a native of Bertie County, died March 23, 2006 in Brooklyn.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at Greater Wynn’s Grove Baptist Church by Bishop Thomas Lee. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Hunter’s Funeral Home, Inc., Ahoskie, is in charge.

Chamblee was a member of Greater Wynn’s Grove Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Chamblee of Brooklyn; three sons, Tony Chamblee of Dover, DE, Ronnie Chamblee of Philadelphia, PA, and Mann Jenkins of Brooklyn; one daughter, Tammy

Chamblee of Philadelphia; his mother, Annie Chamblee of Powellsville; one brother, Kelvin Chamblee of Jamesville; seven sisters, Naomi Chamblee of Hampton, Va., Linda Chamblee and Elsie Askew, both of Newport News, Barbara Moore of Colerain, Amada Chamblee and Ruth Williams, both of Powellsville and Gwendolyn Cooper of Ahoskie; and a host of grandchildren.

Ann H. Vincent

KINSTON — Ann Henry Vincent, 58, died March 24, 2006 at her residence.

Mrs. Vincent was a graduate of Dunn High School and valedictorian of her class in 1965 and also a graduate of Meredith College in 1969. She was a teacher for 33 year, 30 at North West Elementary School in Kinston. She was also a member of First Baptist Church of Dunn.

Survivors include her husband, Charles Read Vincent of Kinston; a daughter, Elizabeth Czerwiec of Lexington, MD; her parents, Graham and Margaret Henry of Dunn; and a brother, Dr. G. William Henry of
