NEA tops East

LASKER – Northeast Academy used balanced scoring to pull away from Northampton-East here Friday afternoon.
The Lady Eagles’ softball team scored one run in three different innings and added two in a pair of others to secure a 7-0 victory over their non-league rivals.
They also got a shutout on the mound from hurler Jessica Duncan as they claimed the victory.
The scoring started in the bottom of the first frame when Heather Langston walked and scored on a Lyndal Brown triple to make it 1-0 in favor of Northeast.
LeAnn Barnes singled in the second stanza and then scored on a Samantha Cook RBI-single as the Lady Eagles moved to a 2-0 advantage.
In the third, the Lady Eagles plated two. Senior Laura Boone walked and scored on a Brown triple before Lindsey Bridgers doubled home Brown to make it 4-0.
Betty Edwards walked to started the fourth inning scoring for Northeast. Cook plated Edwards on her single.
In the sixth inning, Edwards singled and scored on a Barnes triple. Barnes scored on a passed ball to make it 7-0.
