JACKSON – A Northampton County man is behind bars after allegedly taking indecent liberties with a minor.

According to Chief Detective Daryl Harmon of the Northampton County Sheriff’s Office, James Alfred Garner of 121 Avent Lane in Garysburg was charged after an investigation into an incident that took place at family gathering.

Det. Harmon said he received a call about the October 17 incident involving Garner and a 13-year-old female and had been investigating it since that time. He arrested Garner, 60, on December 21.

Garner was placed under a $50,000 secured bond on a felony charge of taking indecent liberties with a minor.
