AHOSKIE n What caused a vehicle to burn-up inside a residential garage here early Wednesday morning?
That's what the Ahoskie Police Department wants to find out.
APD Lt. Scott Outlaw currently has the fire under investigation. The blaze, reported at 2:39 a.m. on Wednesday, was confined to a garage at a Carolina Ave. address.
Inside the unit was a 2003 GMC Denali, a sports utility vehicle registered to Valerie Privott of 423 Carolina Ave. The vehicle was a total loss.
According to APD Chief Troy Fitzhugh, two of his officers arrived on the scene one minute following the original call. He said the officers observed heavy smoke coming from the garage.
The Ahoskie Fire Department was able to bring the fire under control, at which time evidence was collected that will hopefully lead investigators to the cause of the blaze.
Fitzhugh asked those with any information concerning the fire, including anyone who witnessed suspicious activity in or around the Carolina Ave. location early Wednesday morning, to please contact Lt. Outlaw at 332-5011.
