AHOSKIE n Tamesha Lassiter, died July 24, 2005 at Duke Medical Center.

A funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday at Calvary Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Ahoskie. Reynolds Funeral Home, Inc., Ahoskie, is in charge.

Survivors include her husband, Kevin Lassiter of Ahoskie; one son, Quayshawn D. Howington of Ahoskie; a daughter, Ja'Nea M. Jenkins of Ahoskie; her parents, the Rev. Michael and Loretta Hardy of Ahoskie; her father, Michael Riddick of Greenville; a sister, Katina Jenkins of Ahoskie; and her grandparents, Katie Sessoms, Leon Watson and Winfred and Lena Hardy.

Travis Robinson

ROANOKE RAPIDS n Travis Robinson, 25, died July 23, 2005 at Halifax Regional Medical Center.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Roanoke Rapids chapel of

H.D. Pope Funeral Home by the Rev. Michael Alston. Interment will be in Butcher's Cemetery, Gaston. A visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday with the family receiving friends from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Ethel B. Rhodes

NORFOLK, Va. – Ethel Virginia Britt &uot;Grandma Peg&uot; Rhodes, a native of Severn, died July 23, 2005.

She was retired from Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters after 25 years of service.

Survivors include her husband, John Rhodes; one daughter, Deborah Coleman; stepson, Harold Paul Causey; three sisters, Queen, Betty and Thelma; a brother, Collins Britt; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren; one great-grandchild.

A memorial service was conducted Friday in the Church of God, 4422 Princess Anne Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23462. Cremation Society of Virginia, Virginia Beach, was in charge.

Pauline Holley

COLERAIN n Pauline Holley, 88, a native of Bertie County, died July 25, 2005 at Roanoke-Chowan Hospital.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Peterson Chapel Baptist Church by the Rev. Percell Whitaker. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Hunter's Funeral Home, Inc., Ahoskie, is in charge.

She was a retired sewing machine operator and a member of Peterson Chapel Baptist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Lucy Clemons and Gladys H. Freeman, both of Colerain; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Glennis Simmons

COFIELD n Glennis Simmons, 90, a native of Hertford County, died June 25, 2005 at Roanoke-Chowan Hospital, Ahoskie.

A funeral was conducted Friday at Philippi Baptist Church by the Rev. Elton Hall. Burial was in the church cemetery. Hunter's Funeral Home, Inc., Ahoskie, was in charge.

Survivors include a brother, Collie Copeland of Waterbury, Conn.; two sisters, Lucille Bessie Vaughan of Murfreesboro and Doris Simons of Norfolk, Va.; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Betty F. Austin

POTECASI n Betty Francine Austin, 51, a native of Northampton County, died July 23, 20-05 at Roanoke-Chowan Hospital, Ahoskie.

A funeral will be conducted at 12 noon Saturday at Second Baptist Church Creeksville by the Rev. Anthony Rawling. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Hunter's Funeral Home, Inc., Murfreesboro, is in charge.

Survivors include two daughters, Sheovone Edmonds of Raleigh and Giovanna S. McKnight of Maryland; parents, James and Blannie Majette of Potecasi; two brothers, Ronald Majette and James D. Majette Jr. of Washington, D.C.; and four grandchildren.

Garry D. Frymier

AHOSKIE n Garry Dean Frymier, 48, of Godwin Town Road, died Wednesday, July 27, 2005, in his home.

Mr. Frymier was born in Washington County, the son of Clifford E. and the late Mary Bratten Frymier.

He was a member of First Baptist Church of Plymouth and was the owner and operator of Ahoskie Floral Gardens.

Besides his father, he is survived by his wife, Phyllis Godwin Frymier; a sister, Melody F. Godfrey of Candler, NC; two special aunts, Claudia B. Crandall of Plymouth and Helen B. Williams of Columbia, SC; and two nephews, Jed Godfrey of Asheville and Adam Godfrey of Abilene, TX.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 30, 2005, at 3 p.m. at Garrett Funeral Home, Ahoskie, with the Rev. Jimmy Hagwood and Rev. Greg Hurdle, officiating.

Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 until 8:30 p.m. Friday, and other times at the home.

Dorothy F. Robertson

AHOSKIE – Mrs. Dorothy Elizabeth Francis Robertson passed away Wednesday, July 27, 2005 at Chesapeake General Hospital in Virginia. She was retired from Smith Douglas Company in Conway as an accountant, and also was the corporate secretary for Boyette Robertson Ins. Agency. Mrs. Robertson was a member of the First Baptist Church in Ahoskie serving as a past Sunday School teacher, and WMU Director.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, July 30, 2005 at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Ahoskie with the Rev. Dr. Donald J. Dunlap and Rev. Dr. Jesse J. Croom officiating. Burial will follow in the Ahoskie Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the residence at 517 N. Pembroke Ave, Ahoskie.

Mrs. Robertson is survived by her husband, W. Julian Robertson Jr.; a son, David Robertson of Ahoskie; sisters, Kathleen F. Johnson of Conway; Una F. Thompson of Rocky Mount, Sadie F. Fowle of Washington and Kay F. Dunlap of Christiansburg, VA; a brother, Joe M. Francis of Chattanooga, TN; and numerous nieces and nephews. A son, William J. Robertson III; and a sister, Violet F. Timberlake preceded her in death.

James Bass

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. n James Bass, 55, a native of Bertie County, died July 25, 2005 at Riverside Hospital, Newport News.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday at Roundtree Temple Church by the Rev. Vernon Lassiter. Burial will be in the Liverman family cemetery. Hunter's Funeral Home, Inc., Ahoskie, is in charge.

Survivors include a son, Eric Parker of Newport News; five daughters, Tracy Bass of Maryland, Eunice Futrell of Aulander, Robin Parker, Stephanie Parker and Chandra Parker, all of Newport News; his mother, Grace Perry of Colerain; four brothers, Lonzelle Perry of Cromwell, CT, Bernard Jacobs and James Earl Jacobs, both of St. John and Grady Jacobs of Middletown; four sisters, Brenda Mitchell of Hyattsville, Faye Riddick of Ahoskie, Alicia Saulsbury of Powellsville and Juanita Bailey of Raleigh; and three grandchildren.

Ollie L. Eason

SUNBURY n Ollie Lee Eason, 81, a native of Gates County, died July 26, 2005 at his residence.

A funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday at Joppa Missionary Baptist Church by the Rev. William Wiggins. Burial will be in the Kee family cemetery. Hunter's Funeral Home, Inc., Ahoskie, is in charge.

Survivors include nine sons, Louis Eason of Hobbsville, Willie Eason and William Eason of Waterbury, CT, Alfred Eason, Hallet Eason, Harry Lee Eason and Donald Eason, all of Sunbury, Samuel Eason of Tyner and Charles Ray Eason of Hertford; three daughters, Lois Eason, Alice Lassiter and Liza Eason, all of Sunbury; one sister, Nina Smith of Brooklyn, N.Y.; 32 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and one great-great-grandchild.

Harriett S. Early

AULANDER n Harriett Simmons Early, died July 27, 2005 at Guardian Care Nursing Home in Ahoskie. A native of Aulander, she attended Meredith College and graduated from Mercer College in Macon, Georgia. She worked with the Bertie County Department of Social Services and later as a probation officer in Hertford County. She was a member of Aulander Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hufham Watson Early and Blanche Godsey Early, her brothers, James Godsey Early, Harold McNeill Early, and Hufham Watson Early, Jr., and her nephews, Harold McNeill Early Jr., and James Godsey Early II.

She is survived by her sister-in-law, Toni Early of Greenwood, South Carolina, nieces and nephews, Chris and Jim Wiggs of Rocky Mount, Ann Early, Randy and Karen Early, all of Aulander, and Cora Early of Lewiston-Woodville, and by great nieces and nephews, Andy Wiggs, Harriett Early, Carol Early and Alden Early.

She was a sportswoman and a sports fan, excelling in golf and fishing, and enjoying competition in all forms.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, July 30 at 11 a.m. at the Early Family Cemetery.

GATES n James Holley Sr., 82, a native of Gates, died July 28, 2005 at Autumn Care Nursing Home, Suffolk, Va.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, Gatesville, by the Rev. James Brown. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Stallings Funeral Home, Gatesville, is in charge.

Survivors include his wife, Lydia H. Holley of the home; two daughters, Jeanette H. Brooks and Barbara McInnis, both of Portsmouth, Va.; two sons, James Holley Jr. of Chesterfield and Kenneth L. Holley of Portsmouth; one sister, Nettie Pearl Beasley of Zwolle, La.; one brother, Charles Holley of Shreveport; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Hilda D. Jenkins

CONWAY n Hilda Davis Jenkins, 82, a native of Northampton County, died July 28, 2005 at Hampton Woods Health and Rehabilitation Center, Jackson, in Jackson. She was the widow of Grady Jenkins.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at Conway Baptist Church by the Rev. Willie McLawhorn. Burial will be in the Town of Conway Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at Bridgers Funeral Home, Inc., in Conway, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday and have requested that anyone wishing to share a memorial gift, please do so to Conway Baptist Church.

Mrs. Jenkins was a homemaker and a member of Conway Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son, Quinton R. Jenkins of Como; one daughter, Mertis J. Drake of Conway; two brothers, Raby Davis and Kelly M. Davis, both of Conway; one sister, Myrtle Draper of Roanoke Rapids; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

George Gatling

SUNBURY n George Gatling, 62, died July 28, 2005 at Obici Hospital, Suffolk, Va.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in the Gatling family cemetery, Sunbury. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. The family will receive friends at the home of the deceased. Stallings Funeral Chapel, Gatesville, is in charge.

Jimmie D. Boone Sr.

GATES n Jimmie D. Boone Sr., 40, a native of Nansemond County, Va., died July 27, 2005 at his residence.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday at Stoney Branch Baptist Church by the Rev. Michael Holloman. Burial will be in New Olive Baptist Church Cemetery. Hunter's Funeral Home, Inc., Ahoskie, is in charge.

Boone was employed as a correctional officer with Southampton Correction Center. He was a member of Stoney Branch Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Donna Cross of Gates; two sons, Jimmie Boone Jr. and Dominique Boone, both of Gates; two daughters, Ashley Boone of Gates and Jazmynne Kekona of Hawaii; his mother, Mollie Boone of Suffolk; two brothers, James Boone and Melvin Boone, both of Suffolk; and two sisters, Essie Eure and Peggy Seaborne, both of Suffolk.

Calver R. Moore

AHOSKIE n Calver R. Moore, died July 29, 2005 at Guardian Care of Ahoskie.

COFIELD — Jerry M. Roulhac, 42, a native of Hertford County, died July 28, 2005 at Brian Center, Windsor.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Hertford County Undertakers, Winton, by the Rev. Lebron Britt.
