WINDSOR – A Windsor man is facing multiple counts of first degree statutory rape.
A report was filed in January with the Windsor Police Department and Bertie County Sheriff’s Office which sparked a six-week investigation by Windsor Detective Matt Roebuck and Bertie County Sheriff’s Detective Naomi Wiggins. The investigation was done jointly because of the locations of the crimes.
At the end of the investigation, the two charged Gregory Maurice Johnson, 39, with three counts of first degree statutory rape. He was placed in the Bertie-Martin Regional Jail under a $500,000 secured bond.
At this time the law enforcement agencies are seeking to find out if there are other victims who may want to come forward. Officers said there is no indication of other victims at this time.
If someone was victimized, however, they can contact Det. Roebuck at 794-3111 or Det. Wiggins at 794-5330.
