COFIELD n Reginald Ray Manley Sr., died February 27, 2005 at Hampton Va. Medical Center, Hampton, Va.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church by the Rev. R. Lewis. Burial will be in the church cemetery, Harrellsville. Reynolds Funeral Home, Inc., Ahoskie, is in charge.

Manley was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church.

Survivors include one son, Reginald Manley Jr. of San Antonio, Texas; his mother, Johnnie P. Manley of Cofield; two brothers, Derrick Manley of Centerville and Trent Manley of Deluca, Ga.; and one sister, Mary Roulhac of San Diego, Calif.

CONWAY n Funeral services for David Andrew "Bay-Boy" Deloatch, 57, was held Tuesday at the J.W. Faison Memorial Chapel, Seaboard, by the Rev. Willie Price.

Lillie W. Gwynn

CHESAPEAKE , Va. – Lillie Westry Gwynn, 93, a native of Hertford County, died February 27, 2005.

Survivors include her daughter, Rosa Turner Cross of Chesapeake; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

A service was conducted Wednesday in Corprew Funeral Home, Portsmouth chapel, by the Rev. F.R. Williams. Burial was in Greenlawn Memorial Park.

Ed Holland

SUNBURY – Robert Edward &uot;Ed&uot; Holland III, 33, died February 27, 2005, in Chowan Hospital, Edenton.

Survivors include his mother, Judith Hollowell Holland of Sunbury; a sister, Paula Lattimer of Corapeake; a brother, Mark Holland of Franklin, Va.; and maternal grandmother, Willie Mae Hollowell of Sunbury.

A funeral was conducted Wednesday in Damascus Christian Church by the Rev. Forrest Guthrie. Burial was in the church cemetery. Miller Funeral Home, Gatesville, was in charge.

Ruby B. Baugham

SMITHFIELD – Ruby Lee Bell Baugham, 86, died February 27, 2005, at Mayview Convalescent Center in Raleigh. She was the widow of Edgar L. Baugham.

Mrs. Baugham was a member of the Centenary United Methodist Church.

A funeral service was conducted Wednesday in the Centenary United Methodist Church by the Rev. Robert Flynn and the Rev. Richard Williams. Burial was in Sunset Memorial Park. Ann M. Culver

ROXOBEL n Ann Margaret Culver, 70, a native of New Jersey, died February 28, 2005 at her home.

Mrs. Culver attended Sandy Run Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Harry Culver; two daughters, Mary Gibson of Roxobel and Brenda Barholm of Virginia Beach, Va.; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Memorial services were conducted Wednesday at Sandy Run Baptist Church, Roxobel, by Dr. Dave Rimel. Sykes Funeral Service, Rich Square, was in charge.

Earl E. Pierce

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Earl Eugene Pierce, 79, a native of Gates County, died February 28, 2005, in Sentara Bayside Hospital.

Pierce was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, the Suffolk Masonic Lodge No. 685 AF&AM and was a Navy veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Davidson Pierce; two daughters, Janet Dilley and Nancy Moore, both of Virginia Beach; two sisters, Ellen Brothers of Sunbury and Bernice Gray of North Carolina; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Highland Memorial Gardens, Ahoskie, by the Rev. Burke Holland. The family will assemble at Garrett Funeral Home, Ahoskie, at noon Thursday prior to the service. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, Memorial Program Center, P.O. Annie E. Holloman

MURFREESBORO n Annie Early Holloman, 84, of the 1200 block of US 158 W., died Tuesday, March 1, 2005 in Pitt County Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Holloman was born in Hertford County and was a member of Mt. Tabor Baptist Church. A very active member of Mt. Tabor, she taught several Sunday School classes, was choir director for 40 years, and was recently honored for having served as WMU president for over 50 years. She was a charter member of the Murfreesboro Lioness Auxiliary and a member of Woodmen of the World.

Annie is survived by her loving husband of nearly 62 years, Francis Eley Holloman; two daughters, Pat Kline of Hampton, Va., Betty Jensen and husband, John, of Winston-Salem, NC; and four grandchildren, David Kline, Holly Kline, Johnny Jensen and Tommy Jensen.

A celebration of her life will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 4, 2005, at Garrett Funeral Home, Ahoskie, with the Rev. Wint Hale, officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Tabor Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Garrett Funeral Home, Ahoskie, from 7 until 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 3, 2005 and other times at the home.

David L. Askew

COLERAIN n David LaGray "Pos" Askew, 88, of 304 North Main Street, died Tuesday, March 1, 2005, in Chowan Hospital, Edenton.

Mr. Askew was born in Bertie County and was a retired farmer. He was an avid checker player and golfer, and played semi-pro baseball in the Albemarle League.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Agnes Harrell Askew; a daughter, Leah A. Newsome of Colerain; two sons, Garland L. Askew and Lynn M. Askew, both of Raleigh; two sisters, Retha Mizelle of Colerain, Lena Latham of New Bern; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a daughter, Norleen A. Daniels.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 5, 2005, in Hillcrest Cemetery, Colerain, with the Rev. Gary Cline, officiating. The family will receive friends in the Colerain Community Center immediately following the service. Memorial donations may be made to the Colerain Rescue Squad or a favorite charity.

Viola L. Boyce

WOODLAND n Viola Lassiter Boyce, 89, formerly of Newport News, Va., died Tuesday, March 1, 2005, in her daughters home.

Mrs. Boyce was born in Richmond, Va., a daughter of the late Charlie and Daisy Harris Lassiter. She was a member of Woodland Baptist Church and was retired as an inspector with the Talon Zipper Plant in Woodland, NC. Viola was the widow of Willie E. Boyce.

Survivors include a daughter, Connie B. Joyner and son-in-law, Bill of Woodland; and two grandchildren, Tom H. Joyner Jr. of Charleston, SC and Mark C. Joyner of Savanna, Ga.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 3, 2005, in Woodland Baptist Church with the Rev. Heath Lloyd officiating. Interment will be in Peninsula Memorial Park, Newport News, Va., at 3 p.m. Thursday. The family received friends at Garrett Funeral Home, Ahoskie, from 7 until 8:30 p.m. Wednesday. GATES n Mercedee Hill Costen, 59, died February 26, 2005 at her residence.

Survivors include her children, Cranston S. Costen Jr., Allen M. Costen and Nicole H. Costen, all of Gates; one brother, Thomas E. Hill of Chesapeake, Va.; and four grandchildren.

AHOSKIE n Mrs. Dorothy Lamore Sessoms Lewter, died Tuesday, March 1, 2005 at Roanoke-Chowan Hospital, Ahoskie, NC.

Survivors include her husband, Larry D. Lewter of Ahoskie, NC; one daughter, Tamy Lamore Lewter of Ahoskie, NC; her mother, Margaret Riddick of Ahoskie, NC; her father, Acie Britt of Cofield, NC; stepfather, Bobby Riddick of Ahoskie, NC; six brothers, John Sessoms of Winterspring, Fla., Sylvester Sessoms of Deltona, Fla., Andre Sessoms of Carteret, NJ, Bobby Ray Riddick Jr., Timothy Riddick and Tracy Riddick, all of Ahoskie, NC; six sisters, Gloria Harrell, Cynthia Mizzell, Margaret Winley, Sadie Staten and Beatrice "Bee-Bee" Davis, all of Ahoskie, NC, and Maxie Ann Barrett of Greenville, NC; and one grandchild, Eric D. Melendez Jr. of Ahoskie, NC.
