JACKSON—‘Tis the season for high school students to finalize their higher education plans.
In Northampton County it’s no different.
Last week, the Northampton County Board of Education was presented with a preliminary senior report which shows how many of the county’s public school seniors are heading off to college or the military.
Assistant Superintendent Phil Matthews noted the report is subject to change as time passes and the end of the school year draws closer. The board has requested a senior report month-by-month until graduation occurs.
Of the 98 seniors at Northampton County High School-East, 40 have been accepted to higher education and one to the military.
Fourteen students at the Creeksville-based school have applied to a higher education institution or the military, but have not yet been accepted.
The number of scholarships received stands at 24.
Of the 54 high school seniors that attend Northampton County High School-West in Gaston, 14 have been accepted to higher education and none to the military.
Thirty-six students have applied to higher education or the military, but have not yet been accepted. One scholarship has been received.
