MURFREESBORO – A Como man has been arrested after he allegedly carjacked two teens in Franklin, Va. and forced them to drive him here.

On Tuesday evening, Junior Williams was taken into custody and charged with grand larceny. According to Virginia State Police Sgt. A. Williams, more charges could be pending against the suspect.

The Virginia State Police is still investigating what was reported to them as a carjacking/abduction that began in the parking lot of WalMart in Franklin.

Sgt. Williams said the case began initially when the two teenaged victims (one from Franklin, Va. and the other from Murfreesboro) were approached by the suspect in WalMart.

“Apparently the victims were approached by the suspect who asked for money,” Williams said.

Sgt. Williams said there was an exchange between the two parties and eventually they went their separate ways. The victims later came upon the suspect outside of the store and stopped. He said details are still unclear about how the suspect got into the vehicle, a Chevy pickup truck.

Sgt. Williams said the State Police became aware of the situation at 5:39 p.m. after one the victims was able to text his mother, who contacted authorities. The victim’s mother was able to keep law enforcement updated on her son’s location throughout the incident.

The suspect told the victims to take him to Southampton Meadows Mobile Home Park located on Highway 258 south of Franklin. Sgt. Williams said once they arrived at the location, he then directed them to continue down the road to Como and then to Murfreesboro. Williams said the suspect implied he had a weapon, however, none was ever showed to the victims.

The Tidewater News, a sister publication of the Roanoke-Chowan News-Herald, is reporting Junior Williams allegedly stole money from the teens.

Murfreesboro saw a flurry of law enforcement activity as area agencies, including Murfreesboro Police Department and Hertford County Sheriff’s Office, worked to find the suspect and victims.

Once the vehicle reached the Murfreesboro area the suspect fled the vehicle and Williams was apprehended by law enforcement without incident.

The victims were eventually located, unharmed, in the Lowes Food Plaza in Murfreesboro.

The suspect is currently awaiting extradition, which is expected to take place Friday.

“It’s still unfolding,” said Sgt. Williams. “There’s a lot to investigate still.”
