RCPP To hold annual GALA Awards

AHOSKIE – The Roanoke Chowan Partners for Progress is holding its annual GALA Awards here Saturday, December 6 at the Gallery Theatre in Ahoskie from 7-11 p.m. Nominations need to be completed by Wednesday, September 10 at 5 p.m.

Provisions for eligibility require entries to include activities and/or projects within Bertie, Halifax, Hertford and Northampton counties within the last year, demonstrate commitment to and show evidence of building partnerships with other agencies, businesses and/or organizations.

They must also include a signature page with documentation of those involved in the success of the entry.

Those making submissions are encouraged to ensure forms are filled out completely, to list all lead team members for projects nominated and to list only one nomination per cover sheet.

There is no limit to the number of entries submitted for review, however, electronic copies will not be accepted.

Pages should be formatted in 12-point font, have a left-hand margin no less than one inch and be printed on paper that supports photocopy.

Ten copies of the proposal should be submitted and should be bound with a paper fastener in the top left-hand corner only.

No letters of support are requested. Please note Nomination Summaries should not exceed the space provided.

The process for selection is as follows:

Applications will be distributed to non-profit and community and faith-based organizations in the above mentioned counties.

Applications can be found online at www.rcpp.org.

N. Committee members consisting of members of non-profit, local government and community-based organizations will, by consensus, select the top three entries in each category by using a rating sheet prior to meeting and then select the top entry for reception of the award. Note: there may be additional awards given for the same category in some cases.

N. Top three entries selected in each category will be notified by Wednesday, October 15 and expected to present electronic visuals to populate audio/visual presentation at the awards celebration.

N. Top three entries must be available to participate in an on-stage rehearsal at the Gallery Theatre Friday, December 5 at 6:30 p.m.

The RCPP will host a reception immediately following the awards to honor all applicants receiving Certificates of Recognition.

All entries will be listed in the GALA program booklet and counties will be encouraged to post winners on their website.

Press release will be issued in the counties of the winners and efforts to secure television coverage for the event will also be made.

Tickets are available for a donation of $25.
