Charles R. Thomas

MURFREESBORO – Charles Raymond Thomas, 86, a native of Gaston County, died August 8, 2003, at Roanoke-Chowan Hospital, Ahoskie. He was the widower of Mary Lillian Thomas.

A funeral will be conducted Tuesday at the First Baptist Church in Franklin, NC. Anyone wishing to share a memorial gift may do so to Roanoke Chowan Hospice. Bridgers Funeral Home, Inc., Conway and Macon Funeral Home in Franklin, are in charge.

Thomas retired from Swift Meat Packing Company in Tampa, Fla. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Franklin, where he actively served the church in many capacities including the office of deacon.

Survivors include his daughter, Rosemary Royce of Murfreesboro; one brother, Calvin Thomas of Belmont; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

CHARLOTTE – Patricia Williams Sessoms, died August 10, 2003.

AHOSKIE – Annie E Gatling, died August 10, 2003, at her home.

Jesse Cumbo

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – Jesse Cumbo, 59, died August 8, 2003.

A funeral will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Branches Chapel Baptist Church, Rich Square, by the Rev. Tony Flood. Burial will be in the Mitchell family cemetery. A viewing will be held from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the church. Smith-Whidbee Funeral Home, Rich Square, is in charge.

Siddle S. Williams

AHOSKIE – Siddle S. Williams, 88, a native of Pitt County, died August 7, 2003, in Danville, Va.

A graveside service was conducted Sunday in Greenwood Cemetery, Greenville. Wilkerson Funeral Home was in charge.

Mrs. Williams worked at Pinewood Manor Rest Home, Ahoskie.

Survivors include a son, Kenneth M. Williams of Conyers, Ga.; three daughters, Linda W. Wallace of Danville, Joan Loyta W. Harrington of Robersonville and Connie W. Parsons of Princeton, Ky; and numerous grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.
