John Henry Smith Sr., 61, of NC Hwy 308, Rich Square, died Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at Pitt Memorial Hospital in Greenville.
Born in Northampton County, he was a retired farm worker and a member of Branches Chapel Baptist Church in Rich Square.
Survivors include a son, John Henry Smith Jr. of Camden, NJ; seven brothers, Wendell Harrell and Leon Harrell, both of Paterson, NJ, James R. Smith of Elk Grove, Calif., Freddie Harrell of Newark, NJ, Larry Harrell of Richmond, Va., Darrell Jacobs of Georgia and Paul Grant of New Jersey; nine sisters, Annie Smith, Mary King, Delphine Reeves and Gretchen Fleetwood, all of Rich Square, Julia King of Newark, NJ, Brenda Battle of Richmond, Va., Addie McEachern, Joann Johnson and Belinda Hickson, all of New Jersey; and two grandchildren.
A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, May 16 at Wilder’s Funeral Home Chapel, Rich Square, with Bishop Dorothy Ruffin officiating. Burial will take place in the church cemetery.
