Hattie Downing, 76, of Colerain died on Saturday, September 26, 2009 at Christiana Health Care Center in Newark, NJ.
A native of Hertford County, she was a member of United Full Gospel Church where she was Associate Minister, Pastor’s Aide, Church Mother and a member of Quebec Savings Club.
Survivors include, two sons, Morris Downing and Timmy Downing, both of Harrellsville; four daughters, Maxine Robinson of Philadelphia, PA, and Jeroline Geskins, Mona Lisa Collins and Fredda Downing, all of Harrellsville; a brother, David Lewis of Emporia, VA; six sisters, Mollie Parker, Fannie Brown of Wilmington, Del., Ellen Terry of Washington, D.C., Mamie Furtell of Portsmouth, VA, and Elsie Sykes and Dorothy Singleterry, both of Philadelphia, PA; 22 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 1 at Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church with Apostle Clarence Dandy officiating. Burial will take place in the Valentine Downing Family Cemetery.
